I have a Samsung LCD 1080p TV and a Samsung DVD player that is upscale to 1080i and a Denon AVR1707 AV receiver. The Denon dose not have a HDMI connection but both the DVD and LCD have 1.3 HDMI. All three componets have Optical conections and component conections.
I have a couple of questions: One, can you run the HDMI cable from the DVD to the LCD for the picture and then run the optical audio from the DVD to the receiver? Can they both run at the same time? If not, can I run the HDMI from the DVD to the LCD for both picture and sound and then run the audio for both from the LCD to the receiver through the optical audio? If none will work I need an opinion on how to do it best.

Yes, this will work. This is the best hookup to use.
