I'm very new to Home Theatre. Please help me on some good advice. Thanks in advance.
I'm recently offered by a local shop on a Rotel RSX972 surround sound receiver at USD$570.
Is this a good buy consider it has no DPL2 and only 5.1?
What other AV receiver do you recommend in the USD$600 category?

Rotel's a little high-end for a newbie. Don't get me wrong, they make REALLY GOOD stuff. You could save yourself a $100 or more by looking at Denon's 1803 or Onkyo's 601 and get more features. The Onkyo in particular has wider bandwidth on the audio and video.
That's a good price (about 1/2 list) but that receiver is two years older than the Onkyo.
Though mechanically and sonically inferior Pioneer, Kenwood and Sherwood are probably the value leaders currently but at that price, I would stick with Denon or Onkyo.
That's just my two cents. Anyone else?...(Ahem...HK fans..).
