I just had the thought of asking why is it that the DVD OUT signal should pass to the RECEIVER MONITOR IN and another cable again from the RECEIVER MONITOR OUT going to TV IN.
Is this standard on all receivers? Is it okay to by-pass this connection? meaning I will connect the DVD OUT directly to the TV? What is the purpose for that? Is it for the firmware of the receiver? or a signal processing?
Sorry guys I am new to Home Theatre set up and hope you could educate me to my inquiries.
Not all receivers are made for video signal pass through, so it is not standard but more the norm for newer receivers.
It is okay to by-pass the connection and connect directly to the TV. A lot of our members prefer it that way and just use the receiver for audio purposes. Not everyone uses a receiver with their DVD player.
The purpose is convenience, you only need to switch one equipment,
It is not for any firmware or signal processing unless the receiver upconverts.
