I want a system that is great for playing music LOUD (party style loud) as well keeping nice equal levels when its time to pop in a DVD. In addition to the request of ability to handle music, I also want the DVD player to play DIVX. Since I already have a standalone which does this, I am considering going component. Of the systems I have had over the past, only one ever came close to the music playing ability that I wanted, I believe it was a Yamaha DTX-CS800 (or very similar model). I was only leasing it, so I sent it back. I have a budget of about $550-600, not a lot, I know...but would like some suggestions on some receivers and/or speaker packages tha would give me a nice system for that money. Thanks, Nickolas |

CDheck them out at www.fluance.com. Package with subwoofer will run you $400 but they are well worth it. Bought a set for my brother as a gift and that guarantees me good sound when I visit (LOL. That kinda eats up your budget, but save another $200 and go online for last year Onkyo Receiver models. I found a few floor models at HH Gregg in Atlanta and Circuit city for about 300 to 400 recently. I have used Onkyo for years and find they deliver great sound in both Stereo and Surround. Hope this helps and good luck in your hunting. |
