Tuesday, October 31, 2006 - 21:23 GMT I Just ordered a Sony speakers off ebay I think they where previously part of a HTIB system. Payed 40 bucks 1 center, 4 satelites and one 8 inch sub The other speakers are perfect but the subwoofer is weird instead of having a rca input it has 2 speaker wire slots one postive one negative the reciever im getting as a subwoofer out that uses on single rca is there a way i could hook it up to the reciever?? Will it sound ok?

Tuesday, October 31, 2006 - 21:26 GMT What model speakers? You probably have a passive subwoofer, meaning you need a separate amp to power the sub or it needs to connect to the speaker output of the receiver.

Tuesday, October 31, 2006 - 21:31 GMT SS-WS52 Is The Model Num Of The Speaker I Googled It Got Some Manuels I hooked it up to an old 1996 sony reciever and it barly vibrated when playing call of duty it sounds more like a huge speaker

Friday, November 03, 2006 - 00:00 GMT Dan, you wrote that you have found some manuals for the subwoofer. Check to see if the input is for speaker level inputs. If that is the case then you have to connect the speaker outputs of your receiver to that Sony sub. A powered sub usually has an RCA type jack for receiving low frequency signals from a receiver's sub out. Some powered sub has both inputs.
