I am running cable-TV through a VHS system and using the VHS phono out to put the audio out through my Audio amp & speakers (I do not have surround or AV receiver)
My question is; is it worth spending money to upgrade the coaxial between these components or is the (presumbly) analogue cable signal through the VHS not pure enough to warrant the outlay?? I currently have the cheapy co-axials supplied with stereo equipment
Rich: For many years I used to have my system hooked up the same way. My advice is basically if it ain't broke, don't fix it, that is if you are happy with the sound. But, in my experience, it is very possible that cheapie patch cord will eventually fail: channel drop-out and/or noise. Use the opportunity to upgrade then.
BTW, you didn't specify, but if you are using a newer cable box with audio R/L outs, you should be using those instead of the line output on the VCR.
