Thinking of buying a yamaha rx-d202b or rx-d302b.I believe they put out 100 and 110watts x 7 @6 ohms respectively. Is it wise to run 8 ohm speakers or should I reconsider and get a different amp altogether?

They will be fine. Problems usually arise when the impedance load is too low, such as using 4 Ohm speakers with an amp that is designed for 8 Ohms.

And yes, Dennis, you should consider another receiver altogether.

Those are JVC model numbers. The Yamaha receivers have a switch for different speaker ohms, I don't know about JVC.
