Anonymous | When watching a movie encoded in DTS-ES 6.1 channel output on a receiver with only a DTS 5.1 decoder, are we simply losing out on sound contained in that back surround channel or is it being heard from elsewhere? |
Brent | Bump... (I actually just got on here to ask the same question.) Brent |
Brent | Found the answer...go here for an explanation. http://dvdownunder.com.au/news/articles/dts-es.htm Evidently, if I understand it correctly, it mixes it down to a 5.1 signal automatically. Does this seem right from the article? |
Anonymous | ya....apparently the 'back surround' info will be heard 'in' and 'in between' the two rear speakers.... 'in between' would probably mean that both rear speakers are playing the exact same thing giving the illusion of sound coming from the back.... |
