Does any brand of VCR provide component video output? If not, is there any way to convert composite input to component output?

No VCRs have component output. A DVD recorder will convert composite input to component output.

Actually, D-VHS VCRs do output high and standard-def via their component outputs at 1080i,720p, 480p and 480i. I believe units such as the JVC HM-DH300000U will convert composite in to component out video.

These machines represent VHS's last harrah in the marketplace. There are some hi-def D-VHS movies available.

Sorry David, I chose a site with incomplete specs.

Without actually trying it on this D-VHS, I cannot be 100% sure the unit will automatically convert a live composite signal to component. But since it will play standard VHS through its component output, I assume it will.
