Hello, I just got a new plasma TV (50 inch Panasonic) and a Yamaha HTR-5860. So far I just have the 1 center speaker (planning on buyin the rest later). Anyway, I am having trouble with certain DVD movies, where I can't hear the background music at all, just the dialogue. I think my receiver thinks I have additional speakrs, but I can't seem to find a way to make it work. Any thoughts?
Having only a center speaker is a problem. If you had set up front left and right speakers and listened in stereo you would hear all the sound. In the yamaha set up menu it will ask if have large or small speakers in the front, but there is no option for no front L&R speakers. With center and surround speakers there is a choice for no speakers and that sound would then be sent to the L&R speakers. Your only fix is to get out and buy L&R speakers.
