Hi all, my first post so I apologize for its length. I recently purchased a SONY XBR40 LCD along with a DAV-FX10 home theater. i also have a scientific atlanta HD DVR cable box, along with xbox 360, with the HD cables. I have read that if you connect the cable box via HDMI to the TV,(it only supports dolby 2.0?) then I lose the 5.1 availablility if I then run the sound to my reciever from the TV via the optical. I have optical out also on cable box, can I use the HDMI to the TV and just run the optical to the receiver? Also what is the best way to hook up the xbox 360 receive the best audio?
To sum it up what is the best way to hook up all my devices, to get best possible sound and video? Thank you in advance
Chris nice TV, lousy home theater rig. Run the HDMI out of cable box to TV. You only have two digital inputs on the FX10 one optical and one coaxil, you need to use the coaxil output on your cable box to the reciever because the XBOX only has an optical connection. Run the optical out from XBOX to reciever and component video from XBOX to TV.
