New member Username: Dc2Post Number: 1 Registered: Jan-06 | Hi all i recently purchased a Pioneer Dolby Digital Receiver (VSX-D815-S) and at first I got a Samsung 5-Disc Home Theatre System (HT-P38) her's the link: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10 059842&catid=20311 i managed to hook up the samsung speakers to my reciever and tested the sound quality playing the LOTR 3 dvd and i noticed the rear surround speakers would play only some "background noices" or ambient sounds wich sounded really good! while the fronts played diffrent sounds from the movie mainly voice,,etc however i since returned the samsung unit and got a Polk Audio Speaker System (RM6750)because the samsung sub woofer cannot be connected to my reciever here is link http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000F S10049620&catid= now this unit is higher priced and its not a home theater system like the samsung was just suround system speakers and a sub now the question i have is the REAR Polka surrounds speakers dont' have the same "ambient only sounds" that the samsung had it plays the same sounds as the front speakers im a newbie when it comes to home theaters but shouldn't the rear surround speakers only play some sounds only if playing 5.1 dolby movie? I can really tell the diffrence on the samsung home theater if would disconect the front speakers and just play the rears i could only hear some ambient sounds and noices from the movie ,,, any advice? thanks! |

With a lot of DVD players you have to go into the setup menu of the player and enable the Dolby Digital and DTS to be sent to the receiver. Check this first. |
