I recently bought a 60" Sony after having a 1988 32" Toshiba from practically the day it was assembled. Anyways, I am looking for home theater audio and want to spend about $1500.00 or less. This are the speakers im considering (please tell me if this is a poor choice): http://www.abesofmaine.com/viewproduct.asp?id=athhmpack2.2 Now, to power those speakers (if they are a good choice) I picked out the Harmon Kardon AVR-335. Now this could be way too little power, but i have no idea. I thank you for reading this post and look forward to any suggestions you all might have for my home theater needs. |

As for the receiver, it should be okay. Granted, it's rated at 55 watts per channel, but remember that Harman/Kardon generally rates their equipment fairly conservatively; the receiver may be capable of greater power output than what they say. This is in stark contrast to various other manufacturers, particularly lower end models from the likes of Sony, Panasonic, and etc., who claim a number that isn't true in real world usage. Other options to consider from the same retailer of the speakers: http://www.abesofmaine.com/viewproduct.asp?id=dnavr786s http://www.abesofmaine.com/viewproduct.asp?id=dnavr786s http://www.abesofmaine.com/viewproduct.asp?id=ymhtr5860bl Other brands you could consider besides Harman/Kardon, Onkyo, Yamaha, and Denon may also include Sony ES (not regular Sony) and Pioneer ELITE. Plus, remember that the receivers you've selected and what I've pointed out to you are capable of 7.1. The speaker set you have is 5.1. This doesn't mean that the system won't work. A 7.1 receiver can be configured to work in 5.1 without any problems. Having a 7.1 receiver with a 5.1 speaker set means that you have a path to upgrade by adding two extra surround speakers in the future should you desire to do so. Hope this helps. - Reinhart |

I know of a lot of people who are not a big fan of this seller http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2003-p1-s3-d1.html http://www.pricegrabber.com/rating_getreview.php/r=50 |
