If you're willing to get a 16x9 HDTV tube (CRT) set, then you may be able to score a great deal for the size that you want. Besides, CRTs also offer superior contrast and color fidelity compared to any other display technology right now. I'd recommend Sony Trinitron, although you may also make safe bets on Panasonic and Toshiba 16x9 tube sets. - Reinhart |

There may be other technologies out in the horizon for flat panel displays, like organic EL, light emitting polymer, and LED. But, they are a ways away from being made into practical products at this time. DLP is a projection set so it's not flat panel. And, there are alternatives to DLP as well, such as rear projection LCD, SXRD, and LCOS. - Reinhart |
