can i mixmatch speakers of different brands? i have thought of buying :- front-bose 201 sub-polk psw10 receiver- onkyo tx-sr502 surround- bose 161. my plasma states that its speakers can be used as a center channel speaker in a home theatre(sony ke-mx37a1). is this setup a good match? if not any suggestions? my budget is around rs. 50000
You can do whatever you want; it's your system. However, the combination you suggest is not as likely to give satisfying results as a combination of speakers which have a similar tonal character. The idea is called timbre matching. Without it, the sound will have different characteristics as it moves from center only, to center and fronts, to full surround. If you don't care what the speaker system sounds like so much as prefer the look of a certain speaker, then you can ignore the timbre matching by sound and use timber matching by cabinet color.
Put "timbre matching speakers/home theater system" into a search engine for a better explanation of the hows and whys of the concept.
