Like the model it replaces, it has a DVI port as well as coaxial audio out via a small dongle. I have an HDTV with an HDMI port on it. In looking at adapters out there, it seems as though there are plenty that do DVI-->HDMI conversions, but none handle audio. Why is that? Are there really no adapters or cables that have DVI + digital audio ports on one end, and an HDMI port on the other? If there are, where might I find something like that? Going through the HDMI port is unfortunately the only way I will get digital audio with this laptop; my receiver's digital audio ports are already full. |

Need a separate audio cable for DVI-D and therefore the converter would need to support a separate audio line. Vid-to-audio synch issues will crop up, however in that type of converter. |

There is no good reason best I can tell that a "Y" type cable that combines DVI with a co-ax digital audio into one HDMI solution doesn't exist. The HDMI cable is carrying the exact same information as a digital audio cable would and a DVI cable would taped together... |
Anonymous | It seems simple enough; the digital audio signal must not be the same or something? Maybe we should ask someone who would know?
