Surround sound stops on

While watching Lord of the Rings trilogy my all my speakers stop except the front right and left channels. I need to shut the DVD player down entirely and restart it to have it play from all 5.1 channels. Is there a setting I'm not initializing? Is this a common issue? Your thoughts and advice are appreciated. Regards, Mac

I have the same film and never experienced anything this q-u-e-e-r, that is strange?
