I have a Yamaha RVX 800 and Marantz 4200 A/V Receiver. When I set up my 5.1 speaker system to the receivers, the right rear speaker sound is considerably lower than the the left rear speaker. The output level is the same for both rear speakers and the connection (+ -)is properly set up. I don't know if I did something wrong or are the surround speakers are suppose be this way. I would appreciate any helpful comments.
Try swoping the surround speakers about. If the problem shifts to the left rear, then your speaker is knackered. If the problem is still in the right rear, you have a problem with the amp.I run a Marantz 5200.I had similar probs, which was traced to a faulty amp, causing distortion!

Is your speaker cable length running to your right surround speaker, a lot longer than the length running to your left surround speaker? There might be some signal loss.

Try the test button ( if you have one) if the tones are pretty much equal then make sure your input connection is good. This one fooled me for a while.
