Yesterday I bought a Durabrand HTIB from Wal-Mart. I hooked it up and it works pretty well, except that from time to time the rear speakers make a loud crackle. It happens mostly when a loud sound (gunshots, heavy music, etc.) comes thru. I've tried lowering the volume but it still does it when these events occur. I've tried switching the speakers, and it always happens with whatever I have plugged into the "Rear" ports. Does anyone have any suggestions for: a) What the hell is wrong? b) How can I fix it?

a) it is an entry level setup and that is to be expected. Sounds like it's clipping because the amp does not have enough headroom for those peaks of sound. b) take it back and go get some separate components if you have the means, if not maybe take a look at purpose electronic stores for a little better quality HTIB.
