Greg789 Unregistered guest | I was contemplating purchasing Allison speakers from them. they have them listed for $2,599 on Audiogon. There website is amsound.com. Anyone do business with them? |
va Unregistered guest | The website is rife with misspellings (e.g., Mordaunt speakers as "Morduant") and grammatical errors. I wonder if the folks behind it even speak decent English? There is no physical address, just a toll-free # and an email address. They may be legit, but if you have a problem with what you buy, good luck trying to chase it... Your call, but I would stay away. |
Anonymous | i've bought a lot of goods from them over the years, never any problems, good prices, legit people.....always deliver promptly.... |
Anonymous | Dear Greg, I purchased over $20,000 worth of gear from these people. I received a referral from a Jeff Decoux a good freind of mine in Texas. Who purchased over $275,000 worth of gear through the mail. He said EVERYTHING WAS DELIVERED IN 6 WEEKS. That was enough for me. He dealt with Kevin McEvoy and is willing to verify this information to anyone who needs a referral. American Theater is VERY GOOD COMPANY. SOUND LIKE SOMEONE HAS A AXE TO GRIND. |
Anonymous | Saw something about them recently in a forum here. They appear to have some questionable business practices. |
Anonymous | Thanks for the tip. I read the post! Sounds like someone who just canceled there order. Big Deal! |
Anonymous | Of course the NAD warranty is not good in Canada although you can purchase NAD gear through USA and if something goes wrong just send it to the dealer to be repaired. customer should have been aware of this. He simply could have called NAD Canada before placing his order. Sounds like sour grapes. |
T2T Unregistered guest | Folks, there are plenty of other good and reputable vendors out there. If American Theater Systems has treated some customers wrong, then you have to decide if YOU want to be hassled with this company or not. |
Anonymous | I agree all companies have had customer service problems. Even Best Buy has all sorts of negative feedback yet they are a multi billion dollar company. You can't please everybody. |
Michael Michael Motorcycle Unregistered guest | Yes that is so so true but Best Buy is authorized for the items they sell. I do not believe American Theater Systems is. Most home theater manufacturers expressly prohibit selling via the internet. |
guest Unregistered guest | I think the folks at American Theater Systems just saw this thread, and are scrambling to do damage control... Hence the raft of posts on 7/16 (except for the one stamped 3:49 pm) to attempt to salvage the reputation of the company. Gregg789, if you are still following this thread, check out this discussion: http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/shady/messages/819.html |
Anonymous | AST's post-deal service is very different from their pre-deal service. They sold me a retaped box, denied it afterwards and said it was the fault of the shipper. I tried to leave a negative feedback at AGon and was informed of the feedback resolution system which I learned now is a terrible one for the buyers and a too good one for sellers. Through this system, AST insulted me first and then offered to charge me shipping fees both ways for taking back the retaped "brand new" machine. This offer was satisfactory to AGon, and now my negative feedback got lost forever there. I actually thought it an honest mistake that they sent me a retaped box, and I really did not care much about it first, as the price and machine was pretty good. But when they suddenly changed their tone and denied everything, I got nervous. It is their first response to my email that completely changed my attitude towards them. This link says something very bad of AST |

Doug Wallen Unregistered guest | I found a NHT Sub Two i on amsound.com and emailed if he really had it. Got a rude email back saying he didn't have anything like that advertised. I called and pointed out that he did indeed have it on his site. Still rude, I was asked why I was looking at this old site instead of amsound2.com (silly me). I responed to his rude email pointing out that he did advertise the product and actually had a link to the old site in his email signature (apparently not all that old). Got the next email that told me to go to a real store (none of which will carry this sub because it is not made any more) and he actually called me an a$$hole. Actual email said... WHY NOT GO TO AN ACTUAL STORE TO SEE WHAT IS AVAILABLE -- GO AWAY I DONT SELL A$$HOLES!" Who is the buttocks here? |

Audiodreams Unregistered guest | I had one and only one interaction with ATS. I made the suggestion, in the kindest of terms, that instead of using the "more information" link at the bottom of their listing to further promote their website, which already has a dedicated link, they provide more information, ie a picture, specs about the item they are selling. The rude and short tempered response I got from Kevin, told me all I needed to know about this company. AVOID THEM! Successful companies listen to their prospective customers requests and try to be responsive, or at least acknowledge their imput. Small time operations, such as ATS, with a total lack of friendly customer service, will hopefully stay just that....small time. They don't even have a street address, probably selling out of a garage somewhere |
Anonymous | I was shocked to receive so much abuse from a business after quering about an item on Audiogon. Amazing that someone like that can stay in business! |

T23 Unregistered guest | American Theater Systems Breaking Federal Law: 1. American Theater Systems charges a 15% restocking fee for all cancelled orders. Even if an item was not shipped. 1A: The law says: "If you cannot ship any of the merchandise ordered by the customer, you must refund the entire amount the customer "tendered," including any shipping, handling, insurance, or other costs." The fact that he states the 15% restocking fee "for any reason" on his website means squat. Congress writes the laws in the U.S. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/mailorder.htm 2.Mail orders MUST be shipped within 30 days. Unless consent is given by consumer either express or implied. 2.A Not abiding by this rule is a lawful reason for canceling order. ALL money tendered to be returned. If not it's THEFT. 3. "All are items are warrantied." 3A. Really? Federal law states that for all items over $15.00 the warranty must be made available for review PRIOR to purchase. 3. "We are fully authorized for all items we sell" 3.A Really? Not according to the manufacturers. This is a violation of the Lanham Act: http://www.bitlaw.com/source/15usc/ http://www.rkmc.com/Lanham_Act_Also_Applies_to_False_Advertising_Claims.htm And the FTC Act. "In interpreting Section 5 of the Act, the Commission has determined that a representation, omission or practice is deceptive if it is likely to: mislead consumers and affect consumers' behavior or decisions about the product or service............" http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/ruleroad.htm 4.Posting pictures of item's on website for the purpose of sale with out express written permission of mark holder. Using this to hook customers KNOWING that negative feedback is not posted by Audiogon. Violation FTC Act. This is but one liabilty incurred for violating rules of the FTC Act. "Merchants who violate the Rule can be sued by the FTC for injunctive relief, monetary civil penalties of up to $11,000 per violation (any time during the five years preceding the filing of the complaint), and consumer redress (any time during the three years preceding the filing of the complaint)." |

They are a fraud boiler-room operation staffed by people of limited intellect and even less morality. Their dishonesty has been proven by their own ineptitude. |
