Speaker Stands

I have a question about speaker stands.

I recently purchased the Athena Point 5 MKII System Home Theater Speaker Package and I know need speaker stands for it.

Do I need to buy the Athena speaker stands for compatibility purposes. Or can I use those speakers with any standard speaker stands.

I don't want to spend a lot of money on stands if it is not necessary.

Any advice on stands? I'm a rookie at this home theater stuff!

most std stands have universal top plates for most speakers and usually include double sided sticky pads to keep them put.

People who suggest you should buy the brand of stands to match the equipment are full of bull.

Just match the Mass of the stand with the type and size of speaker. Resonance is a bad thing for sound reproduction. For clear, crisp sound the only thing you want moving is the speaker cone.

Some stand come with fillable centers for setting your own mass. (that means not paying for it through shipping costs) When in doubt go for the heaviest mass available to your design preference.

I agree with phil, another thing to look for is spikes to go thru the carpet and hit solid ground or subfloor, this helps with resonance also.
