I have a 50" philips plasma and when I use via DVi-->HDMI cable the upconverting DVD, the screen area of 720p playback is small (with a black border BOTH above and left and right of the display). When using 480p or 1080i, the display "stretches" all the way to to the edge. My tv has no stretching control.
Anybody know why this happens, 720p having a smaller screen area than the other two and WHO is responsible for actually making this stretch - the tv manufacturer or the device (dvd/cable box) maker? Also what is a solution if neither have controls to fix this?
