Onkyo TX-SR502 (refurbed) - can't control TV with remote!

I have a 27" panasonic TV set up with my new TX-SR502. When i put in the codes to work the TV - it does control the volume but NOT the input. Are there more codes that i could try? i tried all the codes in the manual. The TV is only 2 years old - so i'm surprised it's not fully functioning.
