i have a 5.1 home theatre system that will give full 5.1 output for dvd's. it also has an auxiliary input for vcr's, etc. i have acquired a dolby 360 dsp prologic converter. will this give prologic surround if i connect it between the vcr and the aux input on the 5.1 system?

As your system is a 5.1 HT system, I believe it also has a built-in Dolby Prologic/Prologic II decoder. It's better to use the receiver's Prologic decoder to decode Dolby Pro sound for better surround sound than you could get from the DSP 360. The DSP 360 gives you only virtual Dolby Pro surround sound from Dolby Pro encoded materials using a pair of headphones or stereo speakers.
