can anyone tell why movie makers seems unsupportive with the 6.1 format despite the fact that almost all newcomer receivers are capable of decoding it? whats the use of manufacturing 6.1 channel receivers if moviemakers do not encode 6.1 surround sound in their movies? except for the very few.
personally I like the 7.1 set-up...the DTS-ES Discrete as opposed to Matrixed.
There's just not a big push for the 6.1/7.1 because most of the concentraiton right now is still on the 5.1, what with the increase in DVD-Audio and all, the market is still catering to that demographic. sooner than later is my hope cheers
I've got a related question: If a receiver already has Prologic II, Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, and NEO:6 to decode 5.1 DVD's/Soundtracks into 6.1 surround, should I wait and buy a receiver with Prologic IIx for 6.1 channel music? Do any of the aforementioned formats do this already for music?
