I'm about to pick up my Onkyo HT-S770 from Circuit City, but now I'm wondering something. I don't have room to get the rear center behind the seating (couch against wall), and I've been reading that the rear center over your head really isn't good. Can I set up the system as 5.1 (leave out the center rear), and put it away till I have a bigger room to use the full 6.1? Or is the reciever not capable of playing soundtracks as 5.1? The 770 seems to be quite a bit nicer than the 670, otherwise I'd find the 670 somewhere for $100 less.
Yes you can set it up as 5.1. When you do the initial set-up, do not turn on the rear center speakers. The manual should have more details on how this is done.
