Ive recently hooked up a home theatre system that came with 5.1 speakers and a reciever (YAHAMA). I have my DVD player hooked to the reciever using a fiber optic cable, and I have been able to get great Dolby Digital Surround Sound out of the movies. My problem is that when I seem to select DTS in the DVD menu for a movie, my reciever wont play it...it defaults to Pro Logic. When I select it back to Dolby Digital, it plays great and even says on the DVD player and reciever (Dolby Digital). Why is DTS not working? Both my DVD player and reciever support it, but it wont detect it?
You need to go into your DVD player settings and enable DTS output.

It may be that you need to turn on your DVD player without a DVD in it and then select DTS on your DVD player setup menu. Then when you put your DVD into the player select it again on the movie menu.
