New member Username: PapasmurfPost Number: 1 Registered: Nov-04 | Hello, I don't have a lot of money to throw around, so I'm simply looking for the best quality I can get in my low price range ($200-$350). I have a DVD player, so systems without DVD are fine. Here are some of the options I'm currently considering: ONKYO HTS660 - $290 PANASONIC SCHT95 - $290 PANASONIC SCHT400 - $300 Of these three, which would you recommend? Is there anything else of comparable quality in this price range that I'm overlooking? Many thanks! |
HTIB Help Unregistered guest | I have the Panasonic SC-HT05 and I love it, so I can reccomend Panasonic, but I'm sure a lot of the mebers here will definitley vote for the Onkyo. It seems to be preffered. |

New member Username: BrooksyPost Number: 2 Registered: Nov-04 | I didn't say I felt it was better. Your earlier post said: "Is there anything else of comparable quality in this price range that I'm overlooking?" I would just say he Yamaha YHT-150 would be of comparable quality. I would listen to the systems, look at the options/connections, and make your choice. There are good reviews on the Yamaha but this is their starting model which doesn't have any s-video connections, if that would ever be a problem it depends on the user. I think the Onkyo 660 does. I didn't know you could get the 660 for under $300 though, if you can, then it MAY be the better choice. |

New member Username: BrooksyPost Number: 3 Registered: Nov-04 | I don't know offhand. The 340 would be an older generation, maybe last years' model. Here are comparison charts from the yamaha site: http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/compare/yht2_comp.htm http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/HTIB/HTIB_comp2.htm |

Scotty2Hotty Unregistered guest | The SC-HT05 is a nice system for the money. No DVD player, but it's got a ton of hookups (2 optical, 1 coax) but not S-videos. |
