Can one midwoofer and a tweeter give as good a sound as 2-3 mids and a tweeter? I've noticed that some cabinets have 4-5 speakers and some top rated speakers have only 1 with a tweeeter? What's up with that?
Does not matter. A "good" speaker only needs 2 speakers, woofer and tweeter. The more drivers don't make a speaker any better. It only matter how good the speaker sounds to you.
Basicly, if the speakers has a 10" 12" or 15" woofer, It will more then likely have a midrange.
Having a 3way or 4way speaker with larger woofer will help hit thoes lower notes in the 40Hz-20Hz range. This still doesn't meen the speaker sounds better. You have to listen for your self.
My speakers have (1) 1" tweeter, (2) 4" midranges, (1) 8" POWERED woofer, and (1) 12" POWERED subwoofer.
