I have been quoted this price for Paradigm Sound Sound System. "These" people seem to think I need the pw-2200 sub-woofer. Can anybody beat this price and do I really need the sub-woofer since the tower have one?

niiice!! That is a very fair price for Paradigms. It's hard to find dealers for Paradigms because I don't think they cater too much to the on-line retailers, because they want to protect their authorized dealers.
I think the subwoofers will round out the system very nicely, however, you may want to listen to the system without the sub so you can make a determination for yourself. I went without a subwoofer for a while but when I got one, I just couldn't turn back. cheers
