I just bought a pair of B&W 602 S3 for a month or so to go with my Marantz SR5400. I was thinking of upgrading to 603 S3. I went to my dealer and try the 603. The bass sounds somehow better and there's improvement in mid-range. And also it's floorstanding speakers ! After trade in the 602 I would have to pay $390 extra to get the 603 S3. Is it worth or should I save up for the 705 (also bookshelf speakers) ?
If you have a larger space and can crank it up, yes definitely go for it. You can always sell the 603's down the road as B&W's are probably the most resold and bought speakers on the internet.
At my B&W dealer the 602 is $600 a pair and the 603 is $1000. It seems to me that if you are giving them a (slightly) used pair of 602s and only having to kick in another $390 for a pair of 603s that's an awesome deal. Is this kind of a trade common? Are my prices way off?
Thanks

TPL, I managed to get a fairly good deal: (I think) a pair of 602 S3: US$520 603 S3: US$880
diff: US$360
But I have to pay extra 390 for the 603. The $30 for my one month experience with the 602.
My room is pretty small (18m2). Would 603 be doing its best still ? I think I can put them in the room as per standard speaker manual, i.e. 0.5m from wall, stay away from corner, at least 1.5m speaker distance and 2m from my seat. Tkns.
