hi! I need to know if i can connect 6 ohm speakers to the main connectors on my rx-v440rds without any problems? The manual says to be exact: "Main: if you use one/two set(s) of main speakers, the impedance of each speaker must be 4/8 ohm or higher". Now what does it mean? That you can connect any speaker with a impedance between 4 and 8? or only 4 and 8 ohm speakers?
John: that would mean that you could connect 4, 6 or 8Ohm nominal speakers. There aren't alot of 6Ohm speakers out there, so many manufacturers rate their amplifier (sections) for 8Ohms and/or 4Ohms.
If your receiver is rated for 4Ohm speakers, it will have no problem with 6Ohm speakers. Generally, most receivers which are rated for 8Ohms would have no problems driving 6Ohm speakers anyhow.
