Posted on I am looking at a pair of SDAT: MS-E800 speakers and they are 4 ohms. all my other speakers are 8 ohms. the amp i am using is a old marantz model 1030 |

Posted on most of your older marantz handled 4 ohm loads with no problem. but i would try and find the manual or something online to verify. maybe even call marantz or email. |

Posted on yes the lower ohms are harder on the amp. some can handle a 4ohm even a 2ohm load. but others will burn up with anything lower than 8. |

Posted on basically the specs would say something like this. 85watts per channel at 8 ohms. 150watts per cannel at 4 ohms. or in the manual it will say minimum impedance is (x). |

Posted on yah that doesn't tell you anything! sometimes if you look closely on the back of the unit it may give speaker impeadence. other then that you need to do some research. |
