can i set up a pair of car subs to a home stereo receiver? the problem is that the receiver only gives off 100watts/channel and my subs are 800watt thnx colby
that is not the only potential problem. Auto speaker impedances are usually 4 ohms and dips down below that at diffrent times. Your home receiver will have a hard time with this and may cause problems like over heating and clipping and may cause your amp to shut down and go into protect mode. your subs may be capable of handling 800 watts (it doesn't mean it is actually trying to draw 800 watts out of an amplifier all the time), but if it is efficient enough it can be driven by a high current, high effeciency amp at 50 watts and 4 ohms. cheers
i have been running 2 10" fusion subs of my 200watt home amp for 4 years ans if you hook em up to the rear channel your home amp could handle 4 to 16 Ohms so it will be fine just watch to base level and the volume.
