I recently installed Onkya SR 701 receiver with Bose Acoustimass 10 home theater speakers. The problem I am facing is with the surround effects when I select "PL II movie" or "Neo cinema", the basic sound (forget effects) itself is inaudible. The sound gets absolutely fine once I select "PL II Music", "Neo Music" or any other listening mode. Is there any setting I need to do?
I would really appreciate if anybody can help with any suggestion.
ProLogic will not always provide surround effects beacuse of surround information lacking in the source. Some movies work well with ProLogic (or PL II) but some don't. You can try this to be sure if PL II is working for you or not. Use analog connection between your DVD player and SR701. Play a movie/scene with good surround effects using PL II. Try this and see if you getting any effects from surrounds.
