NAD vs. Marantz

I am currently looking at the NAD 742 vs. the Marantz SR6300. Listened to both with Acoustic Energy speakers, and was very impressed. However, I am in the beginnings of researching these brands and would appreciate some empirical and hands-on recommendations/advice. Thanks.
