I can play commercial CDs that I get at the library on my car CD player (2010) and my old Sony Discman D-E307CK (1997).
But, I burned a YouTube MP3 audio file onto a blank CD-R disc. The CD-R disc with the MP3 file plays on my car stereo but not on the Discman. No other formats I tried play on either the car stereo or the Discman. I do not know why the MP3 file plays on the car CD player, but not the Discman since both the Discman and the car were released after 1993 when MP3 was created.
However, if I have to get a new portable CD player, I am wondering what would I get that will play MP3? Preferably inexpensive, about $15 - $20 range. (I do not want to buy one and then later discover that it will not play an MP3 that I burned on a CD-R disc.)
