If you are referring to th Philips stuff, yes, it is pretty darn good. If you find them, buy plenty of 'spares' while you are at it. Philips is OUT of the market, as near as I can tell.
Others STILL in the market include Sanyo and Sony. Cambridge Audio, for example uses the SAME Sanyo mechanism in its players from the entry level 350 series to the top-line (at about 1900$) 850 series.
