Having issue with Tone Arm skating across LP. Have adjusted Tone Arm balance, anti skating adjustment and installed new stylus. Still have same problem. Anyone got any tips? If not, can anyone recommend someone good on Marantz turnables? Thanks

There could be several reasons for the arm skating. First, you need to make sure you have the arm properly set up and balanced. Begin here; http://www.audiophilia.com/features/cartridge_setup.htm

What cartridge are you using?

You installed an entirely new cartridge? Or, you installed a new stylus assembly in an existing cartridge which had been set up by a professional?

Gregg, main problem is not related to adjustment, nor cartridge, nor stylus. Tonearm support is a plastic component which cracks with age. Plastics were not good mechanical elements back in 1978. It has a piston driven from top and apparently the stresses that the fit creates cracks the body of the fulcrum. Once plastic cracks piston slips upward and tonearm goes down eliminating the small window for adjustment this tonearm has. If you are handy with small tools you could fix this yourself. If not provide this information to a tech and make sure they re-insert the piston and glue or epoxy back the crack to prevent reoccurrence. Careful with the dis-assembly of tonearm which could damage the small gage wires for the cartridge. No lubricants please.
