I'm seeking help in choosing surge protection for surround system.

Questions:
How many joules of energy absorption are sufficient?
How important is a "line condioning" feature?
How is a protector for audio use differentiated from a run-of-the-mill unit for computers?
I've heard Panamax recommended. Any others?

Thanks for your help.

The Panamax 4300 is an excellent buy. Monster is good if you like paying $200 more for just the name.

For the most part I am not a big fan of monster but their power conditioner is a very good product. I was very surpised to see a huge improvement in my TV picture when I added the HTS1000. Sound was better too. I got it through Amazon for about 80.00. I think it's the entry level monster product that has line conditioning. So I am a fan of the having line conditioning as part of the surge protector.
