My turntable has been sitting in my living room for several years now, but I recently got the chance to hook it back up. When I went to play an album, it skipped. I tried several albums to see if there was a defect in the vinyl, but the result was always the same.
I noticed that the arm was very difficult to move, and after close observation I believe that that is indeed the problem. Any suggestions?
I'm going to assume any Fisher table has automatic functions. If the table has sat unused for several years, the most probable cause would be hardened grease in the arm mechanics. There's nothing you can do to remedy this. It needs to be taken to a service center for cleaning and adjustment.
It does indeed have automatic functions, and hardened grease would cause the problem. I was hoping there was something else I hadn't thought of before I take it in to be serviced :-/
