Friday, December 24, 2010 - 02:27 GMT That will never be the case for me. That's why I hang here instead of at the HT forum. If my wife didn't have an interest in movies I wouldn't care if I ever saw another. Nice distraction once in a while and that's about it for me.

Saturday, December 25, 2010 - 11:28 GMT @superjazzy I have not yet tried your recommendation for subwoofer calibration from the previous page of the archive, although I do plan to incorporate it into my next attempt at improvement. I have been playing a mixture of seasonal music as well as the usual stuff. Two Weeks by All That Remains: This is quasi-metal and I really like the chorus. Korn's Untouchables album: I've always liked this, but many don't. Soundgarden's Down on the Upside album: This is a new addition (although I already knew many of the songs) and is great to listen to. This is one album I've noticed that is exceptionally affected by the quality of the playback system. Then there's the seasonal stuff... No specifics to name.

Saturday, December 25, 2010 - 21:45 GMT The important thing Andre, is to take your time. Make it an enjoyable experience. Find the best arrangement. "Spoon Man" is the only Sound Garden song I've heard that I like. It's a very flexible song in that I can improvise my own lyric for it on the spot. For instance, I was off once when the garbage men came by. I brought them some gaterades and sang "Take the garbage in your hands, throw the garbage while you can, G-men!" They got a kick out of that. Nice young men that do a great job! I was into metal till about the early/mid 90s. I listen to mostly jazz now along with classical, easy listening and some rock. Right now I have the Nutcracker, complete ballet on. Good stuff!

Sunday, December 26, 2010 - 12:29 GMT Ahh yes I liked that song when I first heard it, but after hearing it sooo many times I've moved on, like so many other songs in my collection. Neat. Considering my experiences with different types of music, I wouldn't be surprised to shift to more jazz and classical music in the future. I already like it a lot as it is, but metal is still what really gets me going. ... Listening tonight has been mostly to the soundtrack for the Darkstar interactive movie-game. I needed some sort of background music for conversing with a couple of friends and decided since it didn't have vocals that it would do.

Sunday, December 26, 2010 - 23:26 GMT I think we all go through phases. After a while, metal just didn't do anything for me anymore. It all started to sound the same. My sons now have all my metal cds and most of the other rock. They were hitting their early teens when I got into jazz. So they were happy to have the rock & metal. Now they're in their early 20s and still enjoying it. They like some jazz, classical and easy listening too. The older guy really enjoys "Quadrophenia".

Thursday, December 30, 2010 - 16:25 GMT We can only go by the names given. This is the only forum I participate in where members more often than not don't want their real names used. I have been scolded by more than one member here for that, so I quit doing it. At the other forums I participate in, if you know the members name it is considered a sign of respect and familiarity to use the members real name. I avoid the confusion and use my real name at all forums. If you prefer another name besides Paul, what would you like us to call you? We're flexible.

Sometimes whether you're loved or hated on the net it can catch up with you and bite you on the azz. With the collection of loons this place harbors can anyone blame me?

Saturday, January 08, 2011 - 21:40 GMT Just got my first taste of Hiromi Hiromi's Sonicbloom - "Time Control" YEOW! prog rock gone jazz mixed with killer piano. It is definatly a curious listen. Riffs and grooves (while they do exist) are not the main component. The album as a whole has a "jam session" improv feel and sound to it . The SQ is excellent as well. smooth jazz? hardly. This definatly won't be my only album of hers. You were right (once again) Art.

I don't have "Time Control" yet but I've been buying at least one per month. I have "Place to Be", "Beyond Standard" and "Spiral"...she is a unique voice in contemporary music.
