When I was working in my garage the other day, I found some very thing solid core copper wire. I had enough to create two 6' braided pairs to try out. Man, was I ever pleasantly surprised! Before I was using Home Depot 12AWG, but this thin wire (I'm guess 20-22AWG) seems so much more clear, responsive and transparent. Maybe I'm hearing things? But I don't think so. |

As you listen move the balance to one side, then the other. Keep the wire that sounds better and lose the other one. |

You are forgetting the effects of the room on each speaker and the fact stereo channels are not identical not to mention moving the balance control will typically place you in a very off axis position relative to the speakers. You are also ignoring the concept of listening for anything other than "clear mids, tight bass and clean highs". I think there are more concise methods for selecting "better". . |
Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 4520 Registered: Feb-07 | My room is very unbalanced as well. |
Silver Member Username: SuperjazzyjamesPost Number: 699 Registered: Oct-10 | I've used that method many times Jan. It always worked out very well. Of course, this includes having the balance centered as well. In some cases, switching the wires between the two channels is involved. Yes, it means switching the wires at both the amp and the speakers, but it works. |

You get to listen to and for whatever you care to but I fail to see how this is a valid comparison of anything for the reasons I've stated above. If you're concerned with the music at all, this doesn't sound like it even takes the music into account. I'm sure you'll say it does but I simply don't know how it could. IMO this is like judging your preference for cofee or tea by putting one cup in each hand and deciding which cup feels hotter. It misses every major point of logic I can imagine. . |
Silver Member Username: SuperjazzyjamesPost Number: 705 Registered: Oct-10 | ROTFL Jan! I won't argue my point since obviously all we can do is disagree. It works for me and it might work for David, nuff said. Which coffee cup is hotter? Do you work with a lot of blonds? You don't sit down to a computer at work and find the screen covered with white out do you? |

Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 4528 Registered: Feb-07 | There's a guy here in Ottawa who makes cables. He hand delivered them to my house the same day I ordered them. Good dude.... http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/userads.php?user_id=141 |
Platinum Member Username: NuckPost Number: 15623 Registered: Dec-04 | Which cables did you get from Omer, Dave? |
Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 4529 Registered: Feb-07 | Unity 12 AWG, terminated with bananas on both ends, thick black braid on them... very nice looking cables. |
Silver Member Username: SuperjazzyjamesPost Number: 802 Registered: Oct-10 | So what's better Dave, the wires you found or the ones you just bought? |
Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 4531 Registered: Feb-07 | The ones I bought. But that's probably only cause I know I spent 100 bucks on them. |
