Amp and speaker selector for 4 ohm speakers

Vince	Posted on Sunday, October 26, 2003 - 05:41 GMT I bought a house with hard wired wall and ceiling speakers--4 pair of Infinity @4 ohm and one pair of Boston acoustic @ 8 ohm. All have volume control and 14 ga wire. I have a Yamaha CX-830 Amp and Yamaha MX-630 pre amp. I have a niles HDL-6 as a speaker selector. I have melted two of the Niles speaker selectors with the protection button ON. I think the yamaha can not handle the 4 ohm loads. Any help/suggestions appreciated. Reading messages here should I get a new receiver like a HK 325?
