I have a Denon 3803 and just purchased a Philips 963 SA DVD/SACD player. For multi-channel SACD,I used 6 analog cables for the connection betweem the 963 SA out to the Denon EXT IN. I also hook up a digital coax from the 963 SA to the Denon's digital in. Analog SACD sounded great but I can't seem to get the digital output to work. I tried playing some DVD movie with digital audio (Finding Nemo) but I couldn't get any sound. The only way that I can get sound (analog) was by selecting the EXT IN on the receiver. Can someone please help out a newbie? Thanks.
like rantz said you have to assign the digital input on the reciever to what ever you are selecting on the remote as the source.
also with no disk in the Philips 963 SA DVD/SACD player go into the menu's and find digital out settings and make sure they are turned on for both dts and dolby digital.
between those settings you should get it because that's all their is.
If it's SACD/DVD-A gear, please tell more about cabling and sources. Otherwise maybe the answer already is to be found in the amp/receiver pages on this forum.
