Saturday, February 06, 2010 - 23:15 GMT I've listened to it a couple of times and will have to give it a couple of more listens to really appreciate it. It's typical Pat Metheny, and that's both good and bad, depending on what you think of him. He certainly maintains his usual quality of composition and instrumental prowess. I am a fan of his so I like it. I guess the area that I really want to focus more on when listening next time will be on the other instruments. There is something to be said for improvisation and for having live musicians in the studio. I have front row tickets to see this show in May in Eugene...we'll see.

Sunday, February 07, 2010 - 06:58 GMT Listening to the Pat Metheny Album right now, Neil. It's an instrumental wonder and often quite subtle. The recording/mix is very opaque sounding and I'm guessing that is to hide the anomalies of the type of recording that it is. Very good music but lacks soul...a keeper, but more for novelty than anything. Still like it, but impatiently waiting the next Pat Metheny Group album.
