Saturday, January 02, 2010 - 22:02 GMT Have to be in the mood, Nuck. Been listening to those excellent Rhino remasters of the early Chicago albums and some nice Dylan and Elton John remasters of late, as well. Seems everytime I'm in the mood for the Blues, SRV, just doesn't feel like it would hit the spot. Sometime it will and when I'm ready...I have it. Dave Brubeck & Paul Desmond - 1975: The Duets

Friday, January 08, 2010 - 16:15 GMT A funny thing happened last night... I went to visit my uncle, having to walk through the garage to get into the house. I heard Cream's Sunshine of Your Love playing and saw my 11 year old cousin holding what I thought was a guitar hero guitar. Nope. He was playing the song on a guitar. It sounded damn good too. I asked hime where he heard that song before; "Guitar Hero." Then he busted out some Sabbath songs - Iron Man, War Pigs, and Paranoid. Not bad for an 11 year old. No formal lessons, just him and his friends teaching each other. My uncle was waiting to see his level of commitment before signing him up for lessons and losing money (its happened with his other 2). I think he'll start lessons in a few weeks. Cream, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin is his favorite stuff to play. I'm going to burn him some Santana.

Saturday, January 09, 2010 - 01:02 GMT Yes because a 2 minute burst of music with my ears covered will make me go deaf as I get familiar with the limits of my system. It was pretty intense, though.. I bet 95% of all my listening is around 70dB.. It may go up soon because of the addition of deep bass. REM - Keep on Rockin' in the Free World

Sunday, January 10, 2010 - 22:25 GMT That's why a playlist is more important (to me) than our opinions. That Cassandra Wilson is far better than OK to me. Also, I'd take Joe Henderson or Boz Scaggs over John Mellencamp, anyday. It's all subjective. Thankfully, I own all of them and don't have to choose. Jessica Molaskey - A Good Day

Sunday, January 10, 2010 - 22:49 GMT Art - I love Ms Wilson's Loverly cd (one of my very favourites), the others don't stack up to it imho, but they may grow on me. Boz's older titles are okay but not in the same league as his later ones - and the remastered Mellencamp album absolutley rocks for us - but, as you say, it's all subjective and I think everyone gets the idea that opinions are personal. And hey, okay is not bad.

Sunday, January 10, 2010 - 23:24 GMT I really like Cassandra's older Blue Note titles better than her later ones. "Thunderbird" being her worst IMO. My favorite is probably "Traveling Miles". Boz's best album may just be his most recent "Speak Low"...very nice. Kate McGarry - The Target
