Sorry, CM, kind of a dumb question. Despite my not owning an iPod I understand at the highest bit rate they can produce quite respectable sound quality when they are paired with a god amp and speakers. I doubt most people use them at their highest bit rate though.

It was but it would have been more useful if there had been more information provided about the recording process on the iPod. How many of those ten that listened to the comparison would still buy an iPod do you think?

I'm guessing 10 Jan.

Do you own an iPod? What about headphones?

An iPod, some Apple lossless tunes, and a set of Grados, can start you down the road to audio nirvana, but when those same tunes are jammed into some buzzy little docking station, well that's another story.

Maybe I'm wrong, I'm sure there are a few that are better than others, perhaps even decent, and they seem to be popular with office workers, so I suspect as long as iPods & office cubicles are popular, there will be a market for these gadgets.

I have a pair of Cord bookshelf powered speakers. There is an Ipod dock on one of them. I heard an Ipod through these which enticed me to buy them for my computer - mostly so I can play backing tracks (MP3's) to reasonably loud levels while maintaining some decent quality for playing lead guitar against. I don't have an Ipod - don't really have the need, but when I heard one played through these speakers I was quite impressed. The tracks were in a lossless format.

The b&w Zeppelin dock is amazing. Far better than anything else on the market that I have yet heard. This can be a very good all in one unit.

Although I am curious about the Geneva labs units. These are said to give the Zeppelin a run for the money. It uses technology geared for a pro studio monitor.
