New member Username: Jasonli18tPost Number: 6 Registered: May-08 | My dad is a picky man when it comes to home aesthetics. he is building a relatively cheap home theater system for a relatively large room. we already have the receiver, the new model yamaha 5.1 channel with 4 HDMI inputs, forget the model number. it is rated at 105 watts per channel. He wants the system to be slightly biased towards music which is why he wants tower speakers. you will not change his mind here. he also will only consider speakers that he considers visually appealing. At this point, these are the frontrunners. They have a very sleek look and seem to get decent reviews for sound quality. A few things concern me: cabinet material. it isn't wood and has been described as "soft touch" by some owners. also, these only weigh 20 pounds per speaker, which seems a bit light. two 5 1/4 inch woofers. are these large enough to produce rich sound? we have a BIC america 12 inch downfiring subwoofer to handle the bass. any input on these speakers is appreciated. will also accept other suggestions but i will tell you now, if it is a bulky rectangle it won't be a contender.
