I've been running a set of XLR's that Nuck gave me for the past few months, and thanks to dual CD outputs on my Mac CDP I was able to quickly switch back and forth between the 2 types of cables. I think I actually enjoy the sound of the RCA cables just a bit better. The XLR's very clear and precise, with absolutely zero noise floor, but the RCA's inject just a little bit more liveliness into the listening experience. A bit more 'analog' sounding, if that makes any sense. Anyone else experienced this? |

The connection works more on design than implementation, IMO, and the cables matter less than proper usage. Also listed is cost., Further down is listed cost of single ended connections to do better. The noise floor and signal gain are apparant, and complexity and device choice increase signal strength through the chain. I believe that this compensates for alternate signal paths and circuitry. |
